Street Legal Racing: Redline

Postby bman7 » Sat May 12, 2012 9:11 pm

It's a formerly commercial racing game from 2003. It has GTA type damage, so it's not super-realistic.. It's only for Windows as far as I know.

You can download it here: http://www.streetlegalmods.com/page.php ... dline-v221
Don't worry, I haven't gotten a virus from it, and neither has anyone else. And the system requirements are quite low since the game is so old. But it works fine for me on Windows 7 as long as I run it in admin mode.

Upgrading the cars is quite a bit harder then other games, because you have to buy each part separately, especially for the engine, because you have to buy the block, transmission, belts, etc. all separately. At least it has some educational value. There's also lots of mods for the game that you can find on the site I linked to above.

It was about time this game got mentioned somewhere on the interwebz.
The game WILL lag on some computers, because of poor optimization, graphics are not all that, but in case you have a steering wheel and a healthy attitude about making cars, then this game is for you.

You will be able to buy a car (a new one, if you have cash) or recover one from scraps and, given time and precious resources, build an awesome racing rig. There are both daily races (just general sprints through the city, while having low bets and running away from cops) and nightly ones, drag races, where large sums of money and prestige are at stake.

The shop of parts is enormous and at certain times, you might have a lack of cash.
Personally i usually buy a car from the used car lot, strip it of all its parts, sell them, fix the base, then buy the best engine i can afford, together with the illegal nitros, turbo and stuff, then invest remaining into the cheapest suspension and tires i can find and do a couple of daily races until i can afford hoods, doors, windows, lights and other things for my car (considering that i dont crash :/).

Btw, why does this guy only suggest 2.2.1 version?
You should guys get 2.3.0 Live Edition patch after installing 2.2.1!!!

Also: shutting up because i have caused some annoyances lately.

I only use 2.2.1 because most mods don't work with 2.3.
