Re: Ace Of Spades 0.70 On Mac!

Postby EdwardR » Sun Mar 04, 2012 2:23 pm

Well, the game is still 0.70, but I am pretty much ready for 0.75 (play-wise and Mac-wise).
And woohoo! The mouse can fully do a 720 degree rotation now, except when I squashed a bug other two appeared. The new bugs are : The game does not cover screen fully, there is a bit of black opening below, and the mouse lags (a bit).

Slightly unstable, but worth a try : http://www.mediafire.com/?5ft6dvzzz07b9te

Also, anyone knows when 0.75 is released? Just wondering.

EDIT : I just found out it's a month already since I posted the port on forums. Yay!
Edit 2 : Played the updated Unstable Version of mac port I uploaded. An a lot better experience than the other version, except the mouse lag.
EDIT 3 : Okay, I downloaded the 0.75 RC10. I can tell this is the most stable version of Ace of Spades on Mac.
EDIT 4 : Wow. It works GREAT in Windowed and in Full-Screen! I can't wait when the final version will come out. Yes, ALL of the bugs we had on OS X are fixed without any new bugs. IT WORKS. Meanwhile, gotta test 0.70.
EDIT 5 : Kinda pointless, but man, Russian president election results are updating, this is fun.
EDIT 6 : Made a new .app for 0.70 and done SAME things as on 0.75. Does not work. 0.75 is waaaayyy more stable.
EDIT 7 : Shall I release 0.75 RC10 for Mac?

Alright, here is 0.75 Release Candidate 10 for Mac OS X.

*No need to change the config file, it automatically asks you now. Server is test server by default.

*Resolution is 1280 x 800 and set to fullscreen by default. Change the config file if you want to change the resolution and/or make it windowed.

*Without any bugs (Well... 99.9%)! Yay!

Hope you Mac Users Enjoy.

P.S. Does anyone know how much time is left until full 0.75? When will it be finally released?

EDIT : I got RC11, but I am too lazy to upload it now. Will do later.

@koalahamie : Find the Ace of Spades program, right click it and press Show Package Contents. You will see a program Wineskin in it. Launch it, press advanced, and you will see -aos://. Place the server numbers after the -aos:// and launch the game. That's it!

THANK YOU!!!!!!1!!!1!!ONE!!!!!ELEVEN!!!!

Sorry, went a bit overboard there XD.

BTW, do you know of any way to make a more conventional style of selecting servers? That would make it even better...

Thanks, Ninja_Sniper.

Hi Ninja. Well, good to see you like it! :) Sadly, there is no other way for servers to my knowledge, unless we will get a GUI server list later on ;)

That's OK, it isn't very hard to change servers, just a little easier to just click on a server. The main thing is that it works - properly!

Go to your browser (Safari, Firefox, Chrome etc.) and go to www.ace-spades.com/play. You'll see a bunch of servers. Click on one that you want to join, and you'll get a page saying that your browser/computer doesn't recognise internet addresses starting with "aos". That's ok though. In your address bar, you should see "aos://0123456789" (without quotes, and a different number). That number that replaces 0123456789 is the number that you're looking for :)

Whenever I try to connect to a server the game gets to the loading screen, doesn't do anything, and then always says "Server Disconnect." What do I do?

Because you are using 0.70, not 0.75. I am releasing an update soon...
