Issue #5 - MMG's, RPG's, and ABC's! Also, arms.


Hey, you might've noticed that the forums are more organized now! We had a slight downtime, but everything is fine now. Read more about it here.

On a side note, congratulations to USABxBOOYO who got a promotion (now a global mod), Talent (a pcg now a global mod), PXYC (a pcg now a local mod for the help section), and Paratrooper (a pcg now a local mod for the suggestions section)!

Many people suggested we needed more active staff, so you got what you wanted! If you have any other (forum) suggestions, please submit them here!


MMG's:

Mounted Machine Guns! Last issue, I talked about the turrets. Now I shall bring you some updates! They will have infinite ammunition, but I am not certain what is being added to balance the weapon. MMG's have the ability to destroy blocks, much like the SMG.

MG!

Many have suggested adding a temperature bar to show when the weapon will overheat (leading to a cooldown period), or unlimited ammo with a limited clip size.

RPG's:

They work.

You can see them at the 0:40 mark in the video, the trajectory of the grenade travels in an arc and explodes on contact.

ABC's:

mat^2 has found a new font to use for the OpenGL client. It's very pretty. :>

Update News:

[13:26:51] <mat^2> we have 2 branches
[13:26:59] <mat^2> the VOXLAP branch with 0.76 coming up
[13:27:05] <mat^2> the OpenGL branch with 1.0 coming up

So all the MMG's, RPG's, OpenGL branch will be in Ace of Spades v. 1.0 and it is confirmed content to be paid for.

On the other hand, bcoolface is working on the VOXLAP branch and he is fixing the weapon accuracies to make the game more enjoyable. Stay tuned for the 0.76 update.

Haxball? My good friend Silnius has been sharing it with us, on the IRC, Mumble, everywhere.

The MMG's balance is simple: YOU CAN"T MOVE.

Considering how you need to always be on the move in this game, that right there balances it fine. I'm not worried about it at all. Though, I do hate how shiny everything is in the OpenGL version ... :-/

That's true, but I've been hearing from others how that isn't enough. Only time will tell..

It'll take me some time for me to get used to the new font.. but hopefully we'll be able to customize the fonts like in the Voxlap client.

LofS, just wondering, is there like an AoS font? Like how the 'Ace' is displayed in 'Ace of Spades' on the loading screen.
