Issue #4 - Turrets and Markers

Turrets will play a very extensive role on the battlefield. They will be player-controlled, but perhaps automatic later on in the future. They will be placeable on any block with the appropriate space requirement. The rate of fire, damage of bullets, ammunition size is unknown for now.


On IRC, bcoolface informed us about the new weapon:

[13:24:29] <PXYC> OGL, or in the next update?
[13:24:41] <bcoolface> 1.0
[13:26:58] <bcoolface> players can play them... they can be destroyed with RPG or if you destroy the block under it
[13:27:03] <bcoolface> *deploy them
[13:28:14] <Azn_Gamer> bcoolface: Say the guy dies. Would his turret die too?
[13:28:23] <bcoolface> you unlock them by building, capping, killing... same way as unlocking mines, staches, artillery, etc
[13:28:28] <bcoolface> no azn
[13:28:33] <bcoolface> it's for keeps


This will be one of the new features in the OpenGL version of Ace of Spades. What do you guys think? Will it cause more problems with griefing? Do you think that this a better incentive for defending your team's intel?

Great newsletter this week, really well done.

Wow, didn't see the babel base. Kind of a neat idea. Also, looking at the intel on the base, it seems like the the intel for the babel mode will be white! Something cool I saw :)

I submitted my suggestion. "The Intel." Keeping with the theme of AoS, I thought the intel made the best name since it pretty much stands for intelligence, and well, the newsletter tells you everything that's happening in AoS, so put two and two together.

Also, once again, great newsletter, by the looks of those pictures, this game is evolving into something really big.
