No rules/Slapdash section

Postby ThisFrickinSite » Thu May 10, 2012 1:37 am

With these new rules restricting some of our posting freedom, why not make a section completely dedicated to either just not having rules, or breaking them entirely? I know of a few other forums with sections like these and they are generaly one of the most used sections. Of course even it will have rules like no porn and extremly disturbing pictures/videos, etc, But still... a very cool and fun section indeed.

Oh, so like a spam section? I mean, no rules and stuff will cause a lot of chaos... :<

A spam section will just allow for post gouging and other crap as well as make our community look bad. Juat abide by the rules and nothing bad can happen to you.

I have to say NO to this.
A rule free section will just result in even more spam,
and maybe even harassing and bullying.

We don't want that in our community.

I've seen this tried in other communities — it doesn't work. It *always* ends up being a massive lump of one-word posts and general idiocy. Even preventing postcounts being added to in the board does nothing.
Unless a having bunch of people be stupid and post complete shit is a goal of the administration, this isn't a very good idea.

Not alwayse: http://thebotnet.com/slapdash-nsfw/ works just fine. Thing is... that site alows porn links (in more thatn just the slapdash section) so be carefull. That wont necisarily be what this will turn into.

I've seen what a 'no-rules' section does.
It just results in many stupid topics, generally filled with hate/swearing/racism. I don't want to see that.

"2b) You agree to not post anything disrespectful, racist, abusive/threatening, rude, false/inaccurate, pornographic, illegal or invasive of a person's privacy."

<@mikuli> the bad part in this plan is that it involves an already busy tea-drinking scone chomper with a monocle

Alright, ill stop defending this since most poeple think that thats what it will become, but i also want to point out how redundant it was to say we cant have a no rules section because its contents will violate rules... kinda obvious dont you think?

Honestly, who the duck cares about spam? The only reason I can think of to care about this is if you are concerned about the server DB being filled up, but hey just make topics expire and there's no problem. Legitimate advertising spam or ACTUAL spam I understand, but short/chatty posts are lumped together for no reason. What's with all this hate of spam/short posts/chatty posts?

It's as if people think post count actually matters and that it should be 'earned' by making 'valuable LONG posts'.

To me this is the stupidest thing ever, post count means NOTHING, even join date is more meaningful, and even that is meaningless...........

I have no problem with short posts/chatty posts. That's why we have the offtopic forum.
I just don't see why people can't follow the rules when making those "short posts/chatty posts".

Enari the answer to your question is obvious... It's because short/chatty posts ARE against the rules, for example 3k/n........................

I can't see any need for a spam forum. There is no need to ever post something which is against the rules of the forum.
