single forum section sorts threads by date

Postby Beret » Mon Jan 16, 2012 2:14 am

Instead of having a million different categories to sift through, could we please have a category option much like the old forum, where any thread with a recent post -regardless of what category it was in- gets bumped to the top? That way we can tell at a glance what everyone's talking about, instead of having to laboriously check each section one by one.

Bonus if you can specify which boards you want to appear in the list, so if for instance I want threads from all categories except off-topic appearing in the feed, that would be possible.

Yes, that'll do nicely, though I'm having a bit of trouble finding it manually- can you be a bit more specific about where 'view new posts' is?

Press Board index to go back to the main page, then above all the catagorys like Aos talk and whatnot, youll see links such as "view unanswered posts", "view unread posts", etc. youll find it there.

I added it manually as part of the navbar before bcoolface updated it. I'll try work it back in.

EDIT: I believe I've done it.

But shouldn't it be 'new posts' listed in the navbar, instead of 'unread posts'? New posts is what we've been referring to.

in general it is best to refer to pages by the same name at in all places.
I agree it is a little confusing.

If I read a post does it become old?
Is age determined by observation?
If a person lives beyond the sight of others will they not age?

I think we should leave the philosophy out of it, and just say that a link should always use the same name as what it refers to.
